Apple made Mac OS X Lion available today with little fanfare and no physical presence in stores. The 10.7 version is available exclusively for download in the Mac App Store. Users can log into the App Store application on their Macs to purchase and download the new operating system.
As the eighth major release of an operating system from Apple, Lion is host to a number of significant changes. Users will notice how Lion looks and feels a lot more like using iOS, the operating system behind iPhone and iPad. With Multi-Touch gestures, full screen apps, and Launchpad, the Mac experience now has the ease and intuitiveness of iPad. Lion introduces over 250 other features that makes the update a workflow necessity.
Enterprise customers may wonder what the release will bring to the way they do business. dpi highlights some of Lion’s business improvements in an article on Lion in the workplace.
